This winter, BLOOM is taking two extraordinary young BLOOMers (age 12+) on a life-changing journey to New York City to witness BLOOM director, Courtney Ross, perform in BLACK GIRL: Linguistic Play, choreographed by Camille A. Brown.
During the trip, the students will attend the performance, visit a cultural institution such as the Alvin Ailey American Dance Theater or Broadway Dance Center, and participate in guided reflection activities led by BLOOM staff.
Upon return, the students will share their experience through a written reflection and presentation during BLOOM’s Spring Session, inspiring their peers to imagine new possibilities for themselves.
Funds will cover airfare, lodging, meals, performance tickets, and cultural excursions for both the students and the staff chaperone.
Through this experience, we hope to affirm what BLOOM teaches every day — that young Black girls deserve to be seen, celebrated, and supported as they step into their power as artists, leaders, and whole beings.
Through this experience, our BLOOM students will see what’s possible when dance, culture, and identity meet purpose. From cultural excursions to reflection workshops, this trip will be a chance to dream bigger, move freer, and BLOOM louder. 🌸
We’re raising funds to make this opportunity possible — and you can help! Every donation brings us one step closer to planting a seed of inspiration that will last a lifetime.
